The key to a great workout is getting proper nutrients to keep your muscles growing. Because lifting without eating is like driving a car without gasoline.  You just won't get anywhere. In addition to changing the way you eat, you will have to change your other habits to successfully achieve your goals. It means drinking less alcohol (red wine ok), getting more sleep (at least 8 hours but no more than 9) and eating a big breakfast each morning.  Below is a list of foods that you should eat.

  • Eggs

  • Turkey (and other lean meats)

We all want to look good, because it allows us to enjoy life more.  A healthy lean person has more energy in life, is more likely to engage in sports as well as other activities that require walking, jogging or even running.

Enough of this mambo jumbo let's get down to business.

Eating healthy is the key ingredient, then you have to add exercise and just the right amount of sleep. 

Eating

Scientists constantly try to find out what is the right amount of meals a day we should consume.  So here are few key ideas that you should follow to become a better healthier you. 

You should try to consume about 6 meals a day.  You can say its crazy and makes no sense, but first let me explain.  If you eat smaller portions but more often it will result in increase of your body's metabolism.  If you eat only 3 meals a day, then your body adjusts the consistency with which it stores fat to accommodate your need for energy.  If more time passed between your meals then your body knows that and slows down your metabolism.  If you choose to eat smaller meals and consume them every 2 or 3 hours then your body adjusts also and chooses to increase your metabolism which results in storing less fat for use later.  It is very important that you understand this idea because it is a key to a healthier you.

Keep in mind that each of those meals are not the size of a dinner you consume on Thanksgiving.  Smaller meals or even snacks help to tell your body that food is coming every few hours so there is no need to store extra fat. 

Exercise

Exercise is what keeps us going.  When your body receives a healthy amount of exercise it feels better and is willing to go further with you.  Your sex life will improve because of better blood flow.  You will be happier because your body releases certain substances when your exercise that make you feel happy.

Sleep

Everyone needs it and it is the key component that allows us to function.  Some people may argue that 5 hours is more than plenty for them, while other will say that 10 is what they need.  Scientists concluded that getting 8 hours is just right.  Remember that you should not get crazy about it and if some night you will get more sleep and others less that ok too.  Just try to stay as faithful to 8 hours as much as you can.
